Volunteer Opportunity—A Bite of Reality, Student Financial Simulation

Thursday, December 11, 2025 (10:45 AM - 12:30 PM) (PST)

Description

Mid Oregon Credit Union will be facilitating a Bite of Reality financial simulation for students at Realms High School in Bend on 12/11/25 from 10:55 am-12:30 pm.

We would love to extend the invitation our business community members to volunteer at this event.

If you will be available that day and would like to join us, please register online by: Tuesday, 12/9/25

We will be working with their Junior class and anticipate 30 students. You will need your photo ID for school check-in and to arrive about 10 min. early to complete the check-in process.

Bite of Reality is a fun, easy, event where you will experience the impact we are making with youth and financial literacy. No financial acumen necessary but acting as a natural “salesperson” is essential. Volunteers work at tables representing spending areas, like transportation, entertainment, childcare, etc. Students move from table to table making purchase choices. The job of the volunteer is to share the purchase options and encourage students to choose higher cost options. No advising necessary! When students overcommit, they learn that even with a solid income, they can’t afford everything and must make hard choices. They stretch their financial decision making muscles and receive their advice from the Credit Union table.
